I offer you an accepting space where you can feel heard and supported.
We all come to counselling for different reasons. You might be struggling with relationships, or overwhelming feelings that are making it tough to cope with daily life. With compassion and curiosity we can explore your challenges and work with difficult or painful emotions that you may be experiencing to gain a deeper understanding into the questions you are asking and the answers you are seeking.
Hello, I'm Helen (she/her)
I am an integrative counsellor working just south of Bristol. I work with adults providing online and in-person counselling. I believe that therapeutic work happens with human connection in the counselling space that we create together. I'm really looking forward to meeting you. I endeavour to work adhering to anti-oppressive practice to recognise everything that makes you unique, including how you identify, your culture and your lived experience.
My counselling practice has supported a wide range of issues including anxiety, low mood, complex life transitions; as well as addressing the impact of childhood experiences such as intergenerational trauma, emotional abuse and surviving domestic abuse.
I came into counselling having worked in both the business and charity sector. I was also a foster carer for many years for Bristol City Council, where I currently work as a Therapeutic Practitioner.
Professionally, I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling accredited by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
I have a certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling from Counselling Tutor. I have completed the Carolyn Spring ‘Working with Shame’ trauma training module.
My client work includes working within a Primary Care GP practice in Somerset and my private counselling practice. I undertake regular clinical supervision. I hold full liability insurance and am a registered member of NCPS working within their ethical framework.
The work I have supported addresses a wide range of issues and experiences including:
Anxiety
Stress
Trauma
Low self-esteem
Shame
Depression
Relationship difficulties
The effects of abuse and loss
I work with adults in person and online and from my base in North Somerset, just outside Bristol. Parking is available for in person sessions.
I offer a free initial 30 minute telephone or online session so that you can see if you feel comfortable with me. If you do decide that you would like to take up an offer of counselling, we can explore whether online or in person sessions would best support you.
I offer 1:1 50 minute sessions for £45 per session. I also have a limited number of spaces for concessionary rates.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial appointment.
This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you, and whether I am the right counsellor to help.
You can also call me on 07305326213 if you would prefer to leave a message and I will contact you as soon as possible.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and I have a Data Protection Registration Certificate from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
